About Us
Tseg Mulugeta is a distance acupuncturist and the founder of Blanca Sana Distance Acupuncture. She personally knows her patients’ challenges with chronic illness. She understands how sickness impacts every part of your life, even the clothes you wear. She is also aware of the relentless cycle of medications and surgeries typical in conventional medicine. Tseg had her initial surgery at 3 years old and underwent a total of 7 surgeries by high school graduation. Tseg’s health experiences inspired her to enter the medical field to help others like her.
Her interest centered on mental health and the mind, fueled by her childhood learning disabilities and the mental illnesses, including addictions, she saw in her immediate family. Tseg had two immediate family members admitted to mental hospitals. She studied Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior (NPB) at the University of California, Davis, planning to pursue a medical degree and a healthcare career. However, a summer internship at a local hospital altered her plans.
Disappointed by the medical field, Tseg spent two years working with her father in real estate before being let go. She then transitioned to tech, a major industry in her native SF Bay Area. Tseg worked for 10 years as a front-end developer, feeling deeply unfulfilled, until her grandmother’s cancer diagnosis.
The diagnosis prompted Tseg to abandon her life in the SF Bay Area and relocate to Lima, Peru to assist her grandmother. Tseg’s grandmother had tried all the conventional medical options but they couldn’t stop her cancer and was expected to die.
Upon arriving in Peru, Tseg chose to seek an alternative way to save her grandmother’s life. That led to a year-long journey across Peru. When she finally found a herbalist who could treat her grandmother, Tseg was disappointed that her Peruvian family refused the alternative therapy.
Sadly, her grandmother passed away, leaving Tseg heartbroken after dedicating a year to saving her. Within two years of her grandmother’s death, Tseg developed a mysterious phantom illness that doctors couldn’t diagnose and medical tests missed, causing her severe pain. Even the herbalist couldn’t heal her with herbs. Then, the herbalist referred her to an acupuncturist and homeopath. When he successfully cured her, unlike others, Tseg was amazed and asked him to treat other health issues she had, which he did.
Impressed, she decided to study acupuncture in Lima. There, during classes, she was introduced to distance acupuncture. While others showed little interest, Tseg immediately saw its potential to help her family in America, including her diabetic father with severe constipation and hypertension. Since learning distance acupuncture, she has helped her father and relatives, and now dedicates herself entirely to practicing it. She founded Blanca Sana Distance Acupuncture, naming it after her grandmother who she credits with putting her on this holisitc journey.
